I think the meaning of the song kind of revolves around:
Kids have dreams and are curious about the things around them. They are adventurous, so much so that they are unable to handle the consequences. However, their parents are too protective over them and provides for them their choices, not wanting them to get hurt. The kids become over-dependent. The parents do not see that sometimes, it is their over-provisions for their kids that are obstacles for the children to grow. The parents only sees what they want the children to be and the children have no space to dream or achieve their aspirations. No freedom of choice.
