28 JAN
The first day of Chinese New Year was pretty mundane for me~ We headed out to visit my maternal grandfather who lives above his hardware shop, followed by my maternal granny and ended the day at my paternal grandparent's place. Though I am not as close to my paternal grandparents, we met all my uncles and their family while we were there and ended up taking a family picture. Was pretty awkward for my siblings and I as we are not that close to our paternal cousins.


29 JAN Headed out early to my second uncle's place (maternal side) and was super glad to see my cousins and aunts all there. Jared and Jairus accustomed themselves very quickly to "the strangers" too! They were running around, giggling, as all eyes were on them, bringing smiles to everyone's faces. My aunts and cousins suggested a game of mahjong, to which I had to decline as we were heading to my second uncle's place (paternal side).

So my paternal uncle held a party at his place, to which came many relatives from his wife's side, as well as some of my cousins' friends. Hence, it was a super awkward situation whereby my family was just standing around, making small chats with my second and third uncle and their wives. We didn't know anyone else. It was a long, excruciating one hour for me as I hardly spoke, except to my family and uncles -_-

Anyways, the night was a much better time spent as we headed home and prepared for our family steamboat. The preparation (and of course washing) was a pain. But the steamboat dinner was delightful as we joked and shared stories over food and some beer! ¬ᴗ¬ We have a very bad habit of teasing each other, given any opportunity. *Another way of getting along*

The night was even better as I headed out for a midnight movie with my aunts and cousins (maternal side). Nicholas took the wheel and fetched us all in his dad's car, shawn at the passenger seat, and dickson, aunt gina, aunt ashley and me squashed at the back (>ᴗ<) We went to watch Journey to the West part 2 by Stephen chow, which isn't one of his best films; but just the experience of a midnight with my relatives is really pleasant.


30 JAN We started out tha day early again by visiting the eldest uncle (maternal side). Nothing much to comment on, except him and my dad catching over a couple of beers as per previous years, and his funny wife who can make any topic you think of into a joke (>_<)
P.s. My eldest uncle (maternal side) was my dad's army friend, and so my dad used to visit my granny's place/uncle's home everyday with their group of friends. And that is how my dad fell for my mom ~

After the visit, we headed home and I was just about in the mood for a nap when shawn called to notify me that a few of my uncles and family, and aunts, are coming to visit (maternal side). I scuttled around the house trying to arrange stuff neatly, while shouting to inform my mom about it. And so my mom's siblings came. And I finally played a game of mahjong with my cousins and aunt ashley. And my dad and uncles had their game of ban luck (blackjack).


31 JAN Met xin yun and che wen for dinner at Ma Maison, Tonkatsu @ Mandarin gallery. Before getting there, I got lost as I kept thinking that they were at Ma Maison @ Ngee Ann City. And so I was questioning, "why aren't they at the place". Eventually, they realised and told me that we were in different malls :ƿ

Xin yun had so much stress, interning as an auditor, at this big audit firm~ And some of her seniors are really harsh on them interns, leaving some company's statements all for herself to audit on! ᵕ_ᵕ We ended off the night with some dessert @ Antoinette, che wen's treat ^ᴗ^
